The Beit Midrash
The Beit Midrash (htpp://www.swarthmore.edu/library/beitmidrash) is the Swarthmore College Library's Center for the Study of Classical Jewish Texts. It contains an extensive collection of Jewish books, including Bibles with commentary from every era, editions of midrash, Mishnah, and Talmud in the original and in translation, works of Jewish mysticism, reference books, and software. The Religion Department courses "Hebrew for Text Study" and "Readings in Classical Jewish Texts" are taught in the Beit Midrash, with the goal of empowering students to find their way into this rich literature. Each semester there are extracurricular study groups in the Beit Midrash, open to all members of the College community. The Beit Midrash is located in Lodge 5, near Bond Hall, and is available for student use.
